Council acknowledges the diversity of women's lives, experiences and priorities as part of this commitment. Council's integrated and strategic planning processes identify issues for women living in the Marrickville area across a wide range of planning and strategy documents.
Council's Community Strategic Plan identified the following key issues:
International Women's Day is celebrated on 8 March each year, honouring women's achievements. It is a time to celebrate the gains women have made over the years and to bring attention to the issues that women still face.
Sharing a similar philosophy to the Men's Shed movement, the Inner West Women's Shed aims to facilitate expression and creativity in a safe, friendly, non-judgemental environment.
The Women's Shed meets every Wednesday from 12 noon to 3pm at Shed HQ, Seaview Street Hall, 14 Seaview Street, Dulwich Hill (next to the library).

Activities include gentle exercise, Feldenkrais, Tai Chi, drumming, massage, aqua exercise, International Dance, massage, health information and discussions.
