Council provides a range of activities and initiatives by which citizens can become involved with their local community and Council.

- Your Say Inner West – community engagement hub
Throughout the year Council conducts consultations on new projects, plans and issues in the local area. Feedback and comments from citizens allow Council to incorporate your views into the decision-making process.
- Advisory and consultative committees
Council operates a number of advisory and consultative committees. These committees serve an important role in providing specialist advice to Council. They are made up of community members and are guided by Terms of Reference that specify the role of the committee.
- Volunteering opportunities
Council offers a range of volunteering opportunities. Volunteering is a great way to become involved in your local area, learn new skills and make new friends.
Council holds a range of free community and cultural events throughout the year that celebrate the vibrant and diverse character of the area.
- Marrickville Community Fund
The Marrickville Community Fund, a subfund of the Sydney Community Foundation, provides the Marrickville community with the opportunity to build an endowment fund and give back to the community they love.
