Open Conversation

Want to hear one-of-a-kind stories from residents of Marrickville and surrounding suburbs?

Open Conversation is a website and sound library that collects and shares conversations. It’s all about getting to know the folks that make up our communities. We encourage you to share your own stories – it’s easy. Sit down with a friend or family member to catch-up and reminisce, then submit your recording online.

The sound recordings of Open Conversation will become part of the Library’s local history collection, for the enjoyment of the community long into the future. Check it out at www.openconversation.org.au

Local history and genealogy research assistance

For anyone who has started a family history, has hit a wall in their research, or wants to find out more about a relative who worked and lived in Marrickville – Marrickville Library and History Services can provide assistance to help people start off, extend or complete their local history and genealogy research.

Whether it’s Marrickville local history, or researching ancestors, brick pits, cemeteries or churches in Marrickville or beyond, History Services may be able to help.

Staff from the History Services Team are available on Monday to Friday to assist you with your enquiry. Contact the Local Studies Librarian to arrange an appointment history@innerwest.nsw.gov.au or 9335 2167.
